Requirements: Create an original design for an approximately
400-page site using W3C web standards. The design must meet the needs
of all levels of high-performance computing users.
Solution: Defined three audiences: prospective users,
new users, and experienced users. Combined XHTML Transitional
and CSS to create a template. Used two to three preferred methods of
navigation to accomodate users' expectations. Highlighted the machine
resources and most commonly visited information for faster access. Created
size-adjustable pages. Tested for browser and platform compatibility
and 508 accessibility.
Results: Users of all abilities and browsers experienced
the same interface. Most information became accessible in 1-2 clicks.
Many reported it "was really easy to use" and "looks
beautiful".
